Family history of cancer

The typical stance by life insurance companies is that a family history of cancer in the first degree of relatives (parents or siblings) raises the likelihood of getting cancer by significant amounts. A recent study of breast cancer cites that women whose mother had breast cancer were 200-400% more likely to develop cancer than the statistical norm. To a insurance actuarial, this elevation cannot be ignored.

However, we have also found that many underwriters are open to the belief that predisposition doesn't necessitate that you will actually get cancer. Also many forms of cancer are not the death sentence they once were. So for many of our clients we have been able to arrange best class policies by working with underwriters.

Some examples of our success:

  • Forgiving cancers in sibling
  • Ignoring cancers when the insured has already outlived their parents diagnosed age
  • Applying credits from more immediate risks
  • Even finding a couple of companies who totally ignore cancer issues in family members.

If you have a family history of cancer that has made getting the best pricing on life insurance, call me and let me get you the policy you deserve.
